Impotence and It's Causes®

Impotence is increasingly common among men. Many contributing factors include stressful lives, pollution, and social stigmas.

There are also both physical and psychological causes for male impotence. Impotence can be caused by any of the following factors:

* Genetics
* Certain Medication- especially those that treat high blood pressure or the central nervous system
* Long term consumption of alcohol
* Long Term use of nicotine (what better reason to quit smoking?)
* Certain medical conditions or diseases that affect the flow of blood within the body
* Antidepressants

Because erections are based in large part on blood vessels and nerves, it is no wonder that men who suffer from cardiovascular conditions or diabetes have problems getting erections.

However, many men awake each morning with a full or partial erection, but still cannot perform under pressure. This points to any number of psychological factors that can cause impotence. Some include
• Stress- which can literally drain a man’s energy reserve
• Lack of Confidence- which can lead to depression, if left unaddressed

Both of these negative factors can do serious harm to any man’s mental well being. With each failed erection, a man becomes more and more convinced that he is a failure, and the cycle of inadequacy continues. This can eventually spiral out of control and turn a physically healthy man into a hermit, avoiding any kind of intimate contact.

Impotence Doesn’t Have to be Permanent

Impotence can be cured, but only if a man is willing to admit he has a problem and is willing to do something about it. Sitting around, feeling sorry for yourself if not going to cure it!

If the problem isn’t physical, then counseling should be tried, and practice. (Just like you learned as a kid- Practice Makes Perfect!)

If the problem is physical, then the source of the problem should be identified as quickly as possible. Discuss the problem with your doctor, to determine if your impotence is caused by medication, a medical condition, or if you need a life style change. (Ahem…Smokers)
